"Hello all. This is TopCat's husband and I wanted to comment on Alexis Vogel and AVC Cosmetics and how they have transformed my wife!

I remember it like yesterday - it was almost exactly one year ago when we can across the infomercial. We were camping in our RV and had just bought a new TV for the RV and hooked it up for the first time. It was our first TV program!

I remember my wife being skeptical but intrigued. She simply couldn't believe the transformations from the system. She had tried lots of cosmetics and had never been able to achieve the same looks. As a matter of fact, I remember us spending almost $75 on some makeup in some store just a few months before. (She tells me now it was something called MAC?

Anyways, she was intrigued enough to take down the web address. My wife checked out the makeup kit thoroughly - she was worried about the expense, especially since we had just spent a lot on makeup for her. But with the return policy, she figured what did she have to lose? She impressed upon me how much she wanted this kit and I purchased it as a Christmas gift last December.

All I can say is WOWOW! My wife has always been beautiful (granted I'm biased!) but AVC Cosmetics have turned her into much more - more confidence, more, I don't know - just MORE! She can get down on herself sometimes the whole self-esteem thing and I remind her to get up and put on that makeup every day - she can't be down on herself when she looks THAT GOOD. "I just got back from the grocery store with my "casual AV face" on and had to share this funny thing. Keep in mind I am an overweight, almost 40 married mom. I used to be attractive, so I am told, but that's been a long time ago.

All through the store, I had this strange feeling that something must have gone horribly wrong with my makeup after I left the house. "Where to begin... Being a mom is such a struggle. Between working, running a home, raising children, taking care of everything... I think most mom's forget who "THEY" are. I know myself I did. If I ever wore makeup anymore it was because we had somewhere to be. Or a night out. Hardly ever during the week. I just never gave into "me" time. "Well, I received my AVC Light Kit today. Three days before I even expected it to arrive. I was so excited that I even used a butter knife to open the box in lieu of the box cutter downstairs! I watched the Alexis Vogel Makeup DVD all the way through one time, and then ventured up the stairs to play. I just wanted to see if this was as easy as it looked, or as hard as it sounded (the cat-eye especially).

I cleaned my face, placed the book in easy reach,and was ready to start. Here is what I thought of each and every product in order of its use:

1. The Foundation - I have used lots of different foundations over the years, but this one has to be the smoothest, full coverage, and light weight that I have used to date. It glided on, and very little was used. When they said that a little would go a long way...they didn't lie!

2. The Concealor - I was impressed with how well that it blended into the foundation, and covered well. No cakeyness (for lack of a better word).

3. The Powder - I am used to using a loose powder for my face but the technique and puff give a great finish to seal the foundation and the brush to remove excess worked great as well. There were no creases under the eyes at all.

4. The Blush - When I first saw the color of the blush I laughed! I thought that there was no way in the world that I could ever wear that color. I was wanting to look glamourous, not trying out for Barnum & Bailey! Well, guess what? It actually looked good! I was very impressed at how smoothly and evenly it went on, and blended. Now I will have to say that if you just "striped" it on there it would look silly, but with the technique and the blending...not a problem!

5. The Brows - Needless to say, I always dreaded doing my own brows and usually go to my salon to get them done. I always did a horrible job. It was either to thin, or just not even. The brow guides are easy to follow, and give great results. I have also never used a brow pencil before. I found it very easy to use as well and was really impressed with myself. Using the brow gel was much better than I thought that it would be. I was impressed at how light, but holding it was. I was expecting something really sticky.

6. The Eyes: The chubby pencil and technique were easy to use and follow, but then came the dreaded "cat-eye". Never learning how to use cake or liquid eyeliner, I was nervous! Not only that but after reading here what problems others have had with it. I just knew that I was going to mess up royaly, but to the contrary, I lined it so close to perfect I nearly died! It was a bit darker than I would have liked, so I just took some damp q-tips and gently removed, and blended. It was great. The eye shadow went on really smooth and blended great. The mascara went on well, and when taking off the make-up was almost impossible to get off. I had to use lots of eye makeup remover to get it off. They should call it wear and water proof! The shammy makes it almost impossible to mess up on the application of the eyeshadow as well.

7. The Lips - I had to put on my lip liner first in order to get it to look good. I have very full lips and looked like Goldie Hawn after her collagen injection in First Wives Club! As with the Blush, I thought I would looke rediculous, but it wasn't bad at all. Not my favorite on me, but not bad.

All in All...I am very pleased with all the products and the techniques shown. If you think that you look ho-ish, you might want to go a little lighter with the coloring, foundation etc. I found it to be a great look, and fairly easy to replicate. I am sure that with even more practice, I will be (almost) as good as Alexis herself in no time. I have ordered even more of the cosmetics and am looking forward to using that as well.

I have it down to 25 minutes... and I had so many compliments on how great I looked. One thing that will never get old is hearing compliments. "I would say the AVC products are well worth the price. I personally would pay the $160 just for the foundation. It's that great. I have extremely oily acne prone skin that tends to get dry in certain places when I treat it and I have no problems with AVC products. The foundation doesnt feel heavy at all because you really only need a little to get good coverage.

As for the price, I can understand the hesitation in spending that kind of money (I am on a fixed income myself)... I had an incident a few years ago where I lost a piece of luggage after a vacation. It just happened to be the one with my entire makeup kit. I had to replace every cosmetic and tool in it, and it wasn't any fancy department store stuff, it was drugstore stuff like revlon, loreal, etc. I spent over 90 bucks just on that stuff. I figured for a bit more I could afford some really professional stuff with professional tools and I'm so so SO glad I did... the boost to your self-confidence and self-esteem will be soooooooooo worth it, I promise." - myleakyheart
